In a move to enhance its presence in India, France Telecom has applied to the Foreign Investment Promotion Board for licences to offer national long distance and international long distance (ILD) services. The licences will be held by Orange Business Services, France Telecom’s 100 per cent subsidiary. In order for Orange to obtain clearance from DoT to start ILD services, it will have to form an Indian JV in which its partner will hold 26 per cent stake.
