Based on the recommendations made by an inter-ministerial committee, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is examining the option of de-linking the fee to be paid to the auctioneer of 2G spectrum from the final bid price, say news reports.
DoT has also fixed a minimum fee of Rs 1 million, taking into account the possibility of the auction proving unsuccessful or the bidding not going beyond the spectrum base price.
Given that the spectrum base price is already high, a number of auctioning firms have expressed their fears about the expected final bid price not being significantly higher than the spectrum base price.
