Maxis Communications is planning to start providing high speed wireless internet service by the end of 2007. The company plans to offer the services initially in Kuala Lumpur and then move on to southern Johor Baru city and Penang state in the north. To this end, the company intends to invest approximately RM300 million in the first three years. According to the company, the Malaysian mobile market is saturating and broadband offers a significant growth opportunity with household penetration currently standing at 14 per cent.
