MTNL could be the first player to offer 3G mobile services. The company is set to begin commercial services within a month of receiving spectrum and will purchase the necessary equipment from Motorola. Meanwhile, MTNL has reported a twofold increase in its net profit for the quarter ended December 31, 2006 at Rs 2.24 billion compared to Rs 1.17 billion in the corresponding quarter of the previous year. In 2007, the company will focus on expanding its broadband and internet protocol television (IPTV) networks.
