
Sprint Nextel Corporation is reportedly close to choosing Nokia as its third primary equipment provider for its US next-generation wireless network. Alcatel-Lucent and Nortel Networks are also pursuing the contract. Sprint has already chosen Motorola and Samsung Electronics as its other two providers. The US-based telecom service provider plans to spend $3 billion on its Wi-Max network over the next two years and aims to launch this in trial markets by the end of 2007.
