Internet service providers (ISPs) have demanded that all nodes of the National Internet Exchange of India (NIXI) be interconnected and new nodes be opened up in traffic-intensive cities such as Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chandigarh, Hyderabad and Pune. This move would allow domestic traffic to flow undisrupted even in the face of adversities such as the Taiwan earthquake, which had disrupted internet links across Asia, including China, Japan, Singapore and India.
