US telecom group AT&T is planning to roll out a high-definition version of its U-verse IPTV service in 15 markets by end-2006.
The company has been investing heavily in a new optic fibre network called Project Lightspeed to support the U-verse advanced video and data service. It intends to upgrade the 3,000 subscribers in San Antonio to HDTV service in late November 2006.
Meanwhile, AT&T’s consolidated July to September 2006 net income increased by 74 per cent to $2.17 billion, riding on the back of Cingular Wireless’s profits, which have quadrupled.
