Deutsche Telekom, Europe’s largest phone company, plans to spend $2.7 billion over three years to build a high speed wireless network in the US to expand T-Mobile USA into its largest division. Deutsche Telekom is aiming to maximise revenue market share in the US and make T-Mobile USA the largest single company within its group. By adding services such as video and game downloads, T-Mobile plans to increase its customer count by at least 50 per cent to 35 million by 2015. T-Mobile USA had previously been adding customers at a slower pace than its bigger rivals Cingular Wireless and Verizon Wireless, partly due to lack of wireless spectrum.
