Reliance Jio Infocomm (RJIL) has reportedly received an approval from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) to test the messaging feature on its 4G long term evolution (LTE) network.

The approval to test this facility follows DoT granting the operator six months to test voice services over its LTE network. Prior to this, DoT had permitted RJIL to offer voice services under the new licencing regime by paying an entry fee of Rs 16.58 billion.
