TRAI has initiated discussions on separation of indoor usage of spectrum from outdoor usage. The objective is to utilise spectrum more optimally. Indoor spectrum can be shared by putting up equipment inside buildings. Since 60 per cent of mobile calls are made while subscribers are indoors, operators can serve a higher number of users with the same amount of spectrum.
