TRAI emphasises reference interconnect order and cable landing station access

TRAI has emphasised the need for a reference interconnect order (RIO) and cable landing station (CLS) access. The RIO may help resolve the tussle between Reliance Communications and Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) over CLS access on the Flag Europe Asia cable that has a landing station in Mumbai.

Reliance has been seeking upgradation of the cable and recently won an international tribunal order in its favour.
