The Office of the Telecommunications Authority (OFTA) has proposed scrapping the interconnection fees paid by mobile operators to fixed line companies. The move could lower PCCW’s annual revenue by about $51 million. Mobile operators pay fixed line companies, including PCCW, Hong Kong’s telecom company, about HK$600 million a year for any calls made between a fixed line and a mobile phone. However, OFTA has now launched a three-month consultation on the matter.
