DoT has returned the application filed by TTSL for starting NLD services. Currently, TTSL outsources its NLD requirements to group company Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL), as it does not possess its own infrastructure to service the traffic.
However, with the NLD licence, TTSL would be able to lease a line from VSNL and not pay for it on a per minute basis. DoT has reportedly raised various objections, one of them being security.
