DoT is proposing to make it mandatory for domestic telecom companies to seek prior government approval for accepting a strategic partner in its foreign holding company. It has suggested that the Foreign Investment Promotion Board take note of these clauses, which, according to DoT, should be included in the licence conditions itself, in the interest of national security.
