
MTNL has called for an open tender worth Rs 7.5 billion for rolling out 2 million GSM lines on a turnkey basis for Delhi, one of the two circles it operates in. According to reports, the global open tender will be in two phases of 1 million lines each. While the phase will see the addition of 750,000 lines to enhance the existing 2G services and 250,000 lines that are 3G-enabled, under teh second phase, 500,000 lines each of 2G and 3G will be installed.
The scope of the tender includes planning, engineering, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of the entire 2G network of GSM and 3G network of Release 4 WDCA technology and higher versions, and other associated networks for SMS, MMS and value-added services.
