Hutchison Essar has completed the acquisition of BPL Mobile Cellular, which has cellular mobile licences for the Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Kerala circles.

Hutchison Essar has completed the acquisition of BPL Mobile Cellular, which has cellular mobile licences for the Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and Kerala circles. According to the latest data from the Cellular Operators Association of India, as on December 31, 2005, BPL Mobile Cellular had over 1.56 million subscribers. The merger will take the total subscribers for Hutchison Essar to approximately 13 million. Hutchison had acquired BPL Mobile in July 2005 in a deal with an enterprise valuation of over Rs 44 billion.
