The Ministry of Finance plans to review the progress on the waiver of spectrum charges and establishing a dedicated optical fibre network (OFC) for the Ministry of Defence which would facilitate vacation of 20 MHz spectrum in the 3G band.

Prior to this, the Ministry of Defence had agreed to release an additional 150 MHZ of spectrum to the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in a phased manner.

In addition, it is believed that the Ministry of Defence may be required to release an additional 10+10 MHz (from 1,805 MHz-1,880 MHz) in the 2G band.

This will enable refarming of 900 MHz of spectrum, which may auctioned in 2014.
