MTNL has lowered broadband tariffs by 50 per cent to Rs 199 per month from Rs 399, a move that will give private operators a run for their money. The company has crossed the 51,000 mark in Delhi alone, with a total user base of over 90,000. It is adding over 500 subscribers every day in Delhi and Mumbai each and is looking to take the number to 2,000 a day, according to company officials. In another major plan for its subscribers, MTNL is contemplating offering free calls among users provided each consumer buys three connections ?? a fixed line, a mobile and a broadband connection. MTNL is looking at adding approximately 500,000 broadband users by the end of the current fiscal year.
