Dinesh Wadhawan has over 30 years of professional ex-perience, working with global conglomerates, start-ups and Fortune 100 enterprises. He has been associated with organisations like Times Internet Limited, Microsoft, Paramark, Inc., Vicinity Corporation, and Systems Union. This transnational, cross-cultural experience has enriched him in many ways, he believes. ?Most of my assignments have been memorable thanks to the vibrant workplace and great team members whom I have had the privilege to work with.?

Currently chief operating officer at Viom Networks Limited, he is responsible for overall business operations including sales, business and corporate development, strategic planning and end-to-end technology deployment.

The tower industry has played a major role in driving infrastructure sharing. ?Not just in India but globally too, tower sharing has emerged as a key value driver for the industry. It provides benefits such as operational efficiency, cost reduction, faster service roll-out, and overall improvement in asset life,? he notes.

Going forward, Wadhawan expects technology to play a key role in optimising tower operations. Embedding IT in all facets of a telecom infrastructure company will translate into a variety of benefits for operators, other ecosystem players and end-customers.

Viom Networks relies on data analysis to gain valuable insights into site performance, energy analytics and operational processes. Data analytics enables it to run its business efficiently, and reduce operating and capital expenditures.

Wadhawan observes that the tower sector is witnessing a paradigm shift, especially as data growth gains traction with 3G and 4G services waiting to take off. ?Data will drive the urban market whereas voice will continue to rule the rural market,? he comments. ?The low rural teledensity of 39 per cent is an indication of the untapped potential. Coverage of this vast rural hinterland is possible only through passive infrastructure sharing.?

Wadhawan?s management style is based on delegation; at the same time, he likes to be hands-on when required. ?The team is involved in the ideating process before we chart the course of any new initiative. Having said that, I am closely involved in the execution and believe that strategy devoid of execution is purely academic in nature,? he says.

A gadget lover, Wadhawan likes to keep himself abreast of the latest happenings in the field of technology. He also loves reading and travelling. ?I enjoy exploring new places with my family,? he says.
