With an aim to consolidate its position in the India smartphone market, Sony India has reorganised its mobile phone division leadership team.

The company has appointed Taro Yamamoto, as the new head for mobile phones business while the former head Tadato Kimura is moving to Sony Europe. Earlier, Yamamoto was heading the company?s car audio division.

In addition, Sony India has also bifurcated the sales and marketing roles for the mobile phone business, with former head of Vaio division, Vijay Singh Jaiswal all set to lead sales, meanwhile Sachin Dev Rai will be responsible for the marketing function. Earlier, Rai was heading both sales and marketing function for Sony India.

In 2013-14, the smartphone business accounted for 10-15 per cent of Sony India?s total revenues of Rs 100 billion. In 2014-15 the company is aiming for smartphones to contribute about 40 per cent of the company?s expected revenues of Rs 120 billion.
