
American telecom service provider AT&T has reported revenues of $32.5 billion for the first quarter of 2014. And the operator?s net income and capex investments for the period under review stood at $3.7 billion and $5.8 billion.
Further, for the quarter under review, AT&T?s wireless service revenues increased by 2.2 per cent to reach $15.4 billion. However, its wireline revenues declined by 0.4 per cent to $14.6 billion. Meanwhile, the operator?s revenues from residential customers increased by 4.3 per cent to reach $5.7 billion.
For the quarter under review, the company?s mobile data billings grew by 15 per cent. At the same time, AT&T?s wireless subscriber base increased by 1.06 million. The growth in subscriber numbers was led by addition of 625,000 post-paid users and 693,000 connected device users. However, the operator witnessed a decline in its prepaid subscriber base with the loss of 50,000 subscribers.
AT&T has further reported that for the quarter under review it added 1.1 million post-paid smartphones users to the company?s fold. About 57 per cent of the operator?s post-paid smartphone customers used a long term, technology-enabled device. During the period under review, the company sold 5.8 million smartphones.
In the first quarter of 2014, operator?s U-verse subscribers (including TV and high speed internet users) reached 11.3 million. U-verse TV added 201,000 new subscribers while about 634,000 new users subscribed to U-verse high speed internet services.
Further, for the first quarter of 2014, the operator has reported that average revenue per users (ARPU) for its wireline broadband service grew by 9 per cent year over year. Meanwhile, ARPU for the company?s U-verse triple-play customers stood over $170.
Going forward, AT&T estimates that following the acquisition of Leap Wireless in March 2014, its revenues will grow by four per cent in 2014.
