Telecom equipment manufacturer, Ericsson has acquired Microsoft?s Mediaroom and Telcocell businesses. The acquisition of Mediaroom business will enable Ericsson to become a leading global IPTV middleware technology and solutions provider. Meanwhile, the acquisition of Telcocell is expected to help the telecom equipment vendor strengthen its existing product portfolio of business support systems.
Following the acquisition, about 400 employees from Microsoft?s Mediaroom business will be integrated into the Ericsson group under the Business Unit Support Solutions division, and the new unit will be called Ericsson Mediaroom. Further, Ericsson will take on board about 200 consulting and systems integration professionals from the Telcocell business. These employees will be based out of Ericsson?s office in North America.
