SunGard Availability Services, the pioneer and leading provider of information availability, recovery and business continuity services today announced the expansion of its Recovery-as-a-Service (RaaS) offering into the Indian marketplace. This builds upon the company?s launch within India in 2011, since when it has been serving its global customers? India operations. With the newly launched RaaS, SunGard will be able to offer India?s medium and large enterprises SLA-driven recovery timeframes for their mission critical IT operations, on an affordable pay-as-you-go service model.
A recovery plan, in an IT context, is the planning and execution of an end-to-end data and application recovery strategy to build a failover system in case the primary IT environment goes down or is not accessible. With today?s rapidly changing technological and economic landscape, Indian businesses ? in common with their global peers ? are looking to managed services to deliver the accelerated and guaranteed SLA-driven recovery timeframes that their IT operations require. SunGard Availability Services brings a legacy of providing solutions centered on data resilience and recovery for over 30 years. Currently, half of Fortune 500 companies and over two thirds of Fortune 100 companies engage with SunGard to keep their mission critical people, process and technology environments up and running at all times.
While SunGard Availability Services has already been operating in India for three years, this latest development represents SunGard?s commitment to the Indian business community, as well as recognizing the ongoing evolution and maturity of the country?s business availability needs. RaaS is fully managed by SunGard Availability Services, and is designed to take full responsibility of the entire recovery process with skilled operations staff driving solution deployment, performing 24/7 monitoring, troubleshooting and recovery testing to ensure that the failover environment is ready in case of any prolonged outage. In case of such an outage SunGard also performs full recovery within contractually committed SLAs.
Keith Tilley, EVP EMEA & APAC, commenting on the importance of the India market to the company, said, “SunGard Availability Services has been a pioneer in the recovery and continuity arena for over 30 years. In that time, we have found that services have naturally evolved to include managed and cloud-based services alongside those of disaster recovery and business continuity, to give 21st century businesses the operational and market availability they need in a world where 24/7 operations demand they are ?open for business? at all times.?
?Through our continued support of businesses across the US, EMEA and APAC, SunGard Availability Services has developed a deep understanding of the challenges that companies face in this area and continuously invests in new and enhanced services to optimize our customers? availability. We look forward to working with both existing and new clients in India to help them realize the uptime, productivity and efficiency benefits other customers are seeing from Recovery-as-a-Service, and our other offerings, as we introduce them to the market in the next 12 months?
Elaborating on the benefits that SunGard brings its customers, Bala Vasireddi, SVP and GM ? India Operations, SunGard Availability Services, said, ?Having made significant investments in India over the past three years, SunGard now has the people, infrastructure and expertise in place to ensure that in the event of a disaster, its customers have the certainty of recovery within the agreed timeframe. Our team works in partnership with the customer to ensure the right solution is in place for their business objectives. With newly launched RaaS strategy the client?s business downtime is brought to near-zero, which otherwise can have serious implications on their balance sheet, customer trust and other key stakeholder relationships.?
