Nokia has partnered with Bharti Airtel to introduce the X smartphone in Africa.

The smartphone will be available across 17 countries in Africa from mid April 2014.

The device has a 4 inch screen and is powered by a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. The Nokia X functions on the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system and packs in 512 MB of RAM, 4 GB of inbuilt storage which can be expanded up to 32 GB using a microSD card and a 3.15 megapixel camera.

Commenting on the partnership, Andre Beyers, chief marketing officer, Airtel Africa, says, ?As Africa?s largest Internet provider, we are excited that Airtel customers in 17 countries will be amongst the first in the world to enjoy a unique combination of Nokia?s stunning design and user experience integrated with a wide range of services. In addition, Nokia X will come with data bundles for our customers to access their favorite social sites and chat applications.?
