Videsh Sanchar Nigam Limited (VSNL) has completed the acquisition of Tata Power Company’s (TPC) broadband unit, Tata Power Broad Band (TPBB), for Rs 2.39 billion. The acquisition will make TPBB a wholly owned subsidiary of VSNL, which was offering broadband-based services under ISP licences. TPBB, which was a wholly owned subsidiary of TPC prior to the buyout, had invested in a 400 km long optic fibre backbone in Mumbai and Pune.
