According to a survey by Capgemini Research Institute (CRI), 60 per cent of surveyed business-to-business (B2B) organisations in India expect their telecom providers to provide enhanced 5G services such as network slicing and ultra-reliable low-latency communications (uRLLC) to gain a competitive edge. Meanwhile, 54 per cent of surveyed Indian enterprises expect their telco providers to provide network-as-a-service (NaaS), compared to 49 per cent of global surveyed respondents.

The report mentioned that 51 per cent of surveyed Indian enterprises expect network virtualisation services and 50 per cent expect end-to-end Internet of Thing (IoT) services including provisioning of hardware, connectivity and software capabilities from their telco providers.

The survey underscored the significance of telcos in the enterprise connectivity space. Further, with the vast deployments of 5G networks, telecom carriers can build new revenue streams and diversify from their core services, such as data and voice.

The study also stated that 66 per cent of surveyed Indian enterprises intend to collaborate more with their telecom providers in the next one to two years to solve their business challenges, as compared to 64 per cent of global enterprises surveyed.

Meanwhile, 64 per cent of surveyed Indian enterprises expect Virtualised RAN (vRAN), while 57 per cent expect cloud-native network functions (CNFs) from their telecom providers, as compared to 59 per cent and 57 per cent global enterprises surveyed. 51 per cent of surveyed Indian enterprises expect network functions virtualisation (NFV) and expect Cloud RAN (C-RAN) from their telecom providers, as compared to 43 per cent and 44 per cent of global enterprises surveyed.

The findings are based on a survey conducted with 1,000 executives, at director level or above from telecoms’ business customers across 11 sectors and 13 countries in Asia–Pacific, Europe, and North America. The global survey was carried out in December 2024 and January 2025.
