According to Jyotiraditya Scindia, Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, there are 1.2 billion mobile devices currently in use in India and mobile phone penetration stands at 70-80 per cent.

The minister stated that the priority now is to increase the scope of the 4G network in the country.

Further, the minister mentioned that India has created a 4G stack with indigenous technology for the first time, and efforts are being made to take the coverage to 100 per cent.
