ZTE Telecom’s plans to enter wholesale trading in telecom equipment have been stalled by the government following objections from intelligence agencies. The home ministry is now investigating the company’s activities and the FIPB cannot continue with its plans until the investigative report is considered. An active player in the Indian telecom market, ZTE Telecom had sought clearance to enhance its equity capital, venture into after-sales service and into the wholesale trade of telecom equipment.
