ZTE has launched  commercial trial of voice over long term evolution (VoLTE) call with enhanced single radio voice call continuity (eSRVCC) in Hong Kong.

ZTE launched the VoLTE call with eSRVCC, a voice solution which enables higher quality voice calls while the network is being upgraded to long-term-evolution. The solution offers end-to-end quality of service assurance.

According to ZTE, eSRVCC VoLTE call improves connection time as compared to circuit-switch fallback solution and shortens handover time when compared to SRVCC solution.

Transition to IP Multimedia Subsystem-based VoLTE, VoWi-Fi and Voice over High Speed Packet Access can reduce operators? per-subscriber costs by 63 per cent.

According to the study, per-subscriber costs will be $1.80 per subscriber per month in a typical North American scenario due to the benefits of LTE spectral efficiency and Wi-Fi offload as a larger percentage of subscribers rely on mobile broadbandaccess.
