ZTE plans to ship about 100 million smartphones worldwide by 2016. Further, in 2015, the company is planning to strengthen its smartphone portfolio by introducing six new devices.

The telecom equipment vendor plans to enhance its product portfolio by launching a mix of 3G and 4G devices priced between Rs 7,000 and Rs 18,000.  ZTE is particularly upbeat about the Indian handset market and is in the process of finalising the 4G devices to be introduced in the Indian market. In addition, the company plans to establish a state of the art handset research and development centre in India.

Further, with an aim to push its products in India, the company plans to adopt a hybrid marketing strategy by partnering with operators as well as exploring tie-ups with independent channel partners. In addition, ZTE is also exploring the opportunity to sell its premium products such as Nubia devices through online retailers such as Amazon, eBay and Flipkart.

So far, the company has been focusing on Android-based devices, however, going forward it plans to launch devices which function on the Firefox operating system.
