Zoom Video Communications has secured a pan-India telecom licence which will let the company offer telephone services to its enterprise customers. The company has received the unified licence with access – pan-India, national long distance (NLD) and international long distance (ILD) from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT).
These licences will allow Zoom to offer its cloud-based private branch exchange (PBX) service ‘Zoom Phone’ to multinational corporations and businesses in India. PBX works as a local telephone exchange for enterprises and helps in managing conference call services. Zoom Phone had more than 100 per cent year-on-year growth globally in 2023, surpassing 5.5 million seats in the fourth quarter of the year.
