Reliance Infrastructure-led Mumbai Metro One Private Limited (MMOPL) has partnered with You Broadband for introducing Wi-Fi services on all its metro stations in the city.

The service will offer free internet connectivity for the first 15 minutes every day as an introductory offer. After 15 minutes, commuters can purchase Wi-Fi coupons for Rs 100 which will allow them to use the service for the next three hours (180 minutes). These coupons are expected to be available at customer care centres at all metro stations.

For accessing the services, the commuters have to select the Wi-Fi network named ?Wi-Fi @ Mum Metro by Youbroadband?, register themselves with requisite details like name and phone number on the You Broadband landing page and then send an SMS to an ?authorised number? provided on the site to authenticate themselves.

In the past, You Broadband has offered similar services on the metro stations along the Delhi Metro Airport Express route which was previously operated by Reliance Infrastructure.

Further, India has witnessed several other public Wi-Fi initiatives in the past one year. Vodafone had started pilots of its WiFi hotspots in several metro cities including Mumbai for its subscribers. It had also introduced a free WiFi zone for its customers at the Belvedere Rapid Metro Station in Gurgaon, as a part of its branding exercise at the Rapid Metro Station in Gurgaon. Reliance Industries-led Reliance Jio Infocomm had launched free Wi-Fi hotspots in eight locations at Ahmedabad and nine locations at Baroda and Surat.
