Wistron Corporation has announced its exit from Apple’s India business. The company will reportedly sell its Bengaluru manufacturing plant to the Tata Group.

As per industry reports, the manufacturer’s exit from Apple’s business can be attributed to its failure to get deeper into Apple’s supply chain. Wistron has also been facing several challenges at the Bengaluru unit since the conflicts on pay gaps and delays in 2020. Consequently, it lost new orders from Apple. Additionally, the company faced constraints due to its smaller size compared to other manufacturing giants such as Foxconn and Pegatron.

The exit is happening at a time when Apple is reported to have tripled iPhone manufacturing in India and its manufacturing partners, including Foxconn and Salcomp, have injected more investment to boost production in the country.
