According to the Satcom Industry Association of India (SIA-India), the recently launched wireless licensing reforms is expected to streamline processes and enable service providers to quickly roll out networks. SIA-India also believes that the reduction in compliance burdens will help enhancing the ease of doing business in the country.
As per SIA-India, establishing guidelines and reducing charges will make satellite-based communication networks much affordable. Meanwhile, the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has also enhanced the scope of satellite licensing to include user terminal stations on moving platforms and satellite-based machine-to-machine (M2M) and internet of things (IoT) devices.
Further, SIA-India asserts that the proposed reforms will have impact on sectors like education, health, agriculture, logistics, disaster management, risk mitigation, logistics, railways, and heavy industry among others. Additionally, the growth of the industry will help generate jobs, SIA- India noted.
