China-based equipment manufacturer Huawei has appointed William Zhao as COO, Huawei Technologies India, the company’s research and development (R&D) centre. Zhao succeeds Wilson Wang, who has taken up a leadership role in Huawei’s digital services development management at Huawei, China, after serving as COO at the Indian R&D centre for four years. In his new role, Zhao will be responsible for the expansion of the centre’s operations and strengthening the company’s pro­du­ct portfolio, transforming the software and service domain, and enhancing smartphone product ownership. Zhao had joined Huawei in 1997 and has since then held several se­nior positions across different divisions and managed over 100 projects.
