China Netcom has confirmed that its Wi-Fi dual-mode mobile phone tests have been approved by the Ministry of Information Industry of China. As the second largest fixed line and broadband internet access provider in the country, China Netcom hopes the new service will further refine its internet access service. Meanwhile, China Netcom rival China Mobile, the biggest mobile telecom carrier in the country, also disclosed that it will soon roll out its own Wi-Fi dual-mode mobile services.
