In a filing submitted to the Delhi high court, Whatsapp has stated that it would not compel users to adopt its new privacy policy until the Data Protection Bill comes into force.

According to WhatsApp, users who are not opting for the new privacy policy will not have their functionality limited whilst the company works on it. This clarification was made before chief justice D.N. Patel and justice Jyoti Singh.

The statement was made when the Delhi high court was hearing Facebook and WhatsApp’s appeal against a single-judge order that refused to prevent the Competition Commission of India (CCI) from investigating WhatsApp’s new privacy policy
