WhatsApp has scrapped off its May 15, 2021, deadline for users to accept its privacy policy update and said not accepting the terms will not lead to deletion of accounts.

Ever since the announcement of its new privacy policy, WhatsApp had faced severe backlash and users have expressed concerns over data being shared with its parent company Facebook.

India is WhatsApp’s largest market with over 400 million subscribers.

WhatsApp has maintained that the privacy update, which is for users of its business services, does not compromise its end-to-end encryption.

According to WhatsApp, majority of users had accepted the new terms. However, the messaging platform did not release the exact numbers.
