Social messaging platform WhatsApp has appointed Abhijit Bose as its India head, with effect from early 2019. The move comes in the backdrop of a key demand made by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology that the company have a grievance officer and a corporate presence in India. He will be responsible for building WhatsApp’s first full country team outside of its headquarters in California. Bose has earlier worked with Ezetap, a payment solutions company which he co-founded in 2011.
