Samsung has laun­ched the Z3 sma­rt­­­phone in India. The device features a 5 inch HD display with a screen resolution of 1280×720 pixels. It runs on the Tizen 2.4 operating system (OS) and is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core processor. It comes with 1 GB RAM, a 2,600 mAh battery, and has 8 GB internal storage which is expandable up to 128 GB through a microSD card. The device has an 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 5 megapixel front camera. It offers connectivity options such as 3G, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB, global positioning system (GPS) with A-GPS, and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. The smartphone is priced at Rs 8,490.

Motorola Mobility has launched the Moto X Style smartphone in India. The phone has a 5.7 inch HD display with a screen resolution of 1440×2560 pixels. It runs on the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop OS and is powered by a 1.8 GHz hexa-core Qualcomm Snap­dragon 808 processor. The device comes with 3 GB RAM, a 3,000 mAh battery, a 21 megapixel autofocus rear camera with f/2.0 aperture and a 5 megapixel front camera. Lenovo has launched the Vibe P1 and Vibe P1m smartphones in the Indian market, priced at Rs 15,999 and Rs 7,999 respectively. The Vibe P1 features a 5.5 inch full HD display and runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor, has 2 GB RAM and is equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery. The device comes with 32 GB internal storage which is expandable up to 128 GB. Micromax has launched the Bolt S302, Bolt Q331 and Bolt Q338 smartphones in India, priced at Rs 3,199, Rs 4,999 and Rs 6,499 respectively. All three smartphones have dual-SIM support and are 3G- enabled. The Bolt S302 features a 4 inch TFT display and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat OS. It is powered by a 1 GHz single-core Spread­trum processor, has 512 MB RAM and is equipped with a 1,450 mAh battery. It has a 2 megapixel rear camera and a 1.3 megapixel front camera. iBall has launched the Slide Brace-X1 tablet in India. The device features an 8 inch IPS display with a screen resolution of 1280x 800 pixels. The smartphone comes with 1 GB RAM, a 2,420 mAh battery, and an 8 megapixel rear camera with flash as well as a 5 megapixel front camera. It has an internal memory of 16 GB, which can be further expanded up to 128 GB. The smartphone offers connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, Micro-USB, 3G, 4G and GPS. Services

Aircel has partnered with Snapdeal, NexGTV and Ingram to offer additional benefits to its existing customers, in a move to increase the uptake of its data services. It has partnered with Snapdeal to sell its data packs online. These packs, branded “Paper Recharge”, will be available in two exclusive denomination packs – Rs 402 and Rs 602. These packs will be bundled with more benefits as compared to the available market recharges. The company is looking to extend the offer to other e-commerce websites as well. Further, Aircel has announced that its customers would be able to avail of NexGTV’s Live TV service at a discounted annual subscription of Rs 749 along with 1 GB data free from Aircel every month for three months. The operator has also launched a mobile insurance service, “Aircel Cover Plus”, in collaboration with mobile insurance provider Ingram. Under this, any customer who buys a new smartphone can choose an insurance coverage against accidental and liquid damages within seven days of the purchase.

Sistema Shyam TeleServices Limited (SSTL), which operates under the MTS brand, has launched open web data plans in nine telecom circles for its prepaid and post-paid data customers. The plans start at Rs 299 and offer a high quantum of data to customers along with the freedom to surf, call and chat as per their choice. This initiative is part of MTS’s customer-centric programme, which aims to enable and empower internet users to have equal access to all lawful websites and services.

SSTL is planning to partner with Oriental Insurance Company to provide Rs 100,000 as accidental death insurance cover at no additional cost on the purchase of MTS dongles. The scheme will be launched across all its nine circles – Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Kerala, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh (West), Kolkata and West Bengal. The insurance policy will become active within seven working days of the date of activation of the MTS data dongle and be valid for one year.

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has announced that it will roll out a convergence platform that will link its subscribers’ mobile and fixed line accounts. The platform will enable BSNL’s mobile customers to avail of free calling benefits and other value-added services which are being offered on their landline phones. Further, subscribers will be able to receive their landline calls on their mobile phones.
