Jio

Reliance Jio is set to launch “Jio Plus”, a new range of post-paid family plans starting at Rs 399. Jio Plus will be available from March 22, 2023 across all Jio stores, with the option of home delivery as well. The plan will include unlimited 5G data, Wi-Fi calling and over-the-top (OTT) subscription benefits, along with international roaming. Jio Plus users will get acc­ess to Netflix, Amazon, JioTV and Jio­Cinema, and in-flight connectivity while travelling abroad. They can make India calls at Re 1 per minute and enjoy Wi-Fi calling on international roaming, with one international roaming plan for 29 countries. In addition, Jio plans to provide a call-back service by care specialists at the touch of a button, free of cost for a month for a family of four.

Jio is now offering unlimited 5G data with its high-end prepaid plans, priced at Rs 2,999, for eligible customers based on the listing on the telco’s website. Under this plan, Jio offers 912.5 GB of high speed data (about 2.5 GB data per data), unlimited voice calling and 100 free SMSs per day, with a validity of 365 days. The plan also provides Jio a suite of mobile applications such as Jio TV, JioCloud, JioSecurity and JioCinema. The plan also comes with the Jio Happy New Year offer, providing an extra 23 days of validity and 75 GB of high speed data at no additional cost. Currently, Jio has its True 5G services live in over 365 cities.

Airtel

Bharti Airtel has announced the launch of unlimited 5G data, providing its customers ultra-fast, reliable and secure 5G Plus services. The company has removed the capping on data usage across all existing plans. All post-paid customers and tho­se prepaid customers with a data plan of Rs 239 and above will be able to avail the offer. The Airtel 5G Plus service is available in over 270 cities in the country, with the only requirements being a 5G-compatible device and access to a 5G network area. The company is committed to providing nationwide coverage and aims to cover every town and rural area with 5G services by the end of March 2024. Airtel has also established India’s first live 5G network in Hyderabad, as well as India’s first private 5G network at the BOSCH facility in Bengaluru, in partnership with Mahindra & Mahindra to make its Chakan manufacturing facility India’s first 5G-enabled auto manufacturing unit.

Airtel has announced an extension of the 57 per cent increase on its base prepaid ra­tes across all 22 circles. The move is aim­ed at increasing its ARPU beyond the current level of Rs 200. The tariff hike is being initially implemented in Odisha and Haryana and will subsequently be extended to 19 markets. Airtel’s minimum mon­thly plan in all 22 circles starts at Rs 155 for prepaid users, which includes 1 GB data and 300 SMSs.

Bharti Airtel has launched a multimedia campaign to promote Airtel 5G Plus, the brand name for their 5G service. This is the first major marketing exercise done by Airtel around 5G. The campaign centres around a young woman who experiences the benefits of Airtel 5G services. As part of its marketing plan, the brand will use the Indian Premier League as a platform.

Vi

Vodafone Idea (Vi) has launched a new post-paid plan priced at Rs 401. This partnership offers Vi post-paid customers Sun NXT’s premium subscription with dual screen access (mobile and TV) at no extra cost for one year.

Vi has launched exclusive offers for the women in Bharat to find jobs on the Vi app on the occasion of International Wo­men’s Day. As part of a partnership with Apna, Vi is also offering a placement-guaranteed training programme with a discount of Rs 5,000 to all women who aspire to be tele callers. Fluency in the English lang­uage increases the job prospects and career progression, for which Vi has a special offer to help women improve their English-speaking skills in partnership with Enguru, an India-based English learning platform. There is a 50 per cent discount on English learning courses with unlimited interactive live classes by experts. Vi is also conducting a series of webinars, aimed at providing career counselling for women and how English empowers them.

Vi has also entered the e-sports domain by partnering with Gamerji, offering a platform for Vi users to play e-sports tournaments and democratise the e-sports industry. This happened after the successful la­unch of Vi Games, which offers more than 1,200 mobile games, multiplayer options and competitive gaming on the Vi app. Vi Games, together with Gamerji, will host a range of e-sports games across different ge­n­res such as Battle Royale, Racing, Cricket and Action Role Playing.
