Intex Technologies has launched the Aqua Costa and Aqua 4.5 3G smartphones in India. The Intex Aqua Costa features a 5 inch FWVGA (480×854 pixels) display with a pixel density of 294ppi. It has 2 GB RAM and 8 GB inbuilt storage, which is expandable up to 32 GB. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek (MT6580M) processor and sports a 5 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and a 2 megapixel front camera. It runs on the Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system (OS). The dual-SIM (GSM+GSM) smartphone is packed with a 2,200mAh battery. It includes connectivity options such as GPRS/EDGE, 3G, A-GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, and micro-USB. It measures 145x72x9.4 mm and weighs 145 grams. Samsung has launched the Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime in India. It sports a 5 inch HD (720×1,280 pixels) display and is powered by the 1.4 GHz quad-core service oriented communication technology. The handset comes with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB inbuilt storage, which is expandable up to 256 GB. With an Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS, the Galaxy J5 Prime is a dual-SIM handset with Nano-SIM card support. It features a 13 megapixel rear camera with an f/1.9 aperture and LED flash, and a 5 megapixel front camera with an f/2.2 aperture. Vodafone India has launched the ‘IROAMDAILY’ plan for users often travelling to international destinations. The offer enables subscribers to avail international roaming and is valid across 34 countries including United Arab Emirates, Thailand, Singapore, United States of America, United Kingdom, China, Germany and Hong Kong. The plan costs around Rs 500 per day across all 34 countries. Under the plan, all outgoing calls are charged at Re 1 per minute whereas incoming calls are free. Further, data is priced at Re 1 per MB. The roaming plan also offers in-advance booking facility of up to 120 days. It can be activated via SMS on the company’s website or through USSD.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a new unlimited calling broadband plan for its customers at Rs 1,199. The BBG Combo ULD 1199 plan offers customers unlimited download and upload facility at 2 Mbps speed and 24 hours free voice calls to any network (both local and STD). Besides offering monthly validity, BSNL is also offering annual, two-year and three-year payment options along with the new plan. A user can apply for payment options for a minimum period of one year or a maximum period of two to three years. The plan requires payment of Rs 2,000 per year if customers opt for the static IP address. It will be available across India for all new and existing prepaid broadband, landline and fibre to the home (FTTH) subscribers.
BSNL has also launched a new promotional broadband plan called Experience Unlimited Broadband 249 (BB249) postpaid. Under the plan, users would get 2 Mbps speed for the initial 1 GB of data used every month, and thereafter get 1 Mbps speed for the remaining month. The BB249 plan also offers unlimited free calls between 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. on all Sundays to any network in India. BSNL will charge Re 1 per three minutes for all BSNL network outgoing calls, and Rs 1.2 per three minutes for all other network outgoing calls, outside of the free call bracket. The offer would last for only six months, after which the operator would migrate customers to the BBG Combo ULD 499 plan, which costs Rs 499 per month. Further, installation charges would be waived during the promotional period. The plan has been launched for new customers only, on both asymmetric digital subscriber line and FTTH.
