Lava has launched its Lava A79 smartphone in India. It has a 5.5 inch display, offers dual-SIM support and runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system (OS). US-based handset vendor Nextbit has launched the world’s first cloudbased smartphone, Robin, in India. It comes with a “smart storage” feature, which enables apps and photographs to be backed up on the cloud, thus freeing up space on the device. The special voucher is priced at Rs 118 and offers 1 GB of data for 30 days along with talktime of Rs 10. In addition, this plan offers reduced call rates and SMS charges to students.
Telenor India has collaborated with mCarbon to launch Tatkal Credit, an emergency recharge credit facility for customers in its six operating circles. Under the scheme, Telenor subscribers can avail of a quick loan of Rs 5 in case their phone balance falls below Rs 1.50. The credit balance can be used to make calls (10 local or STD minutes) or for 20 MB of data browsing.
Telenor has launched night data packs in six circl es. The packs are priced between Rs 2 and Rs 48 with validity ranging from one day to 28 days. These can be used between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m., and offer data usage of up to 1 GB. Further, the packs allow users to download or browse data even after the free data is exhausted. For this, the user will be charged a maximum of Rs 5 per day at a pulse rate of Re 0.20 per 20 kB of data.
Vodafone India has launched the “Flexi Plan” for its post-paid customers. The scheme will allow users to design their own tariff plans. The Flexi pack has a basic rental of Rs 199, which includes four free packs from the eight options available. The customer can keep on adding extra packs by paying an additional Rs 25 per pack.
