The device comes with inbuilt storage of 16 GB, which can be expanded up to 32 GB using a microSD card. Bharti Airtel has decided to offer free 4G hotspot devices for trial to its subscribers with doorstep delivery. The move is aimed at increasing the uptake of its 4G services. Subscribers wanting to avail of the offer would need to give a refundable security deposit of Rs 2,300, against which the Airtel 4G hotspot device will be provided to them. The offer allows the use of 4G services on the Airtel 4G hotspot device for a data limit of 2 GB for three days. The 4G services cannot be recharged or topped up once the 2 GB data limit has been exhausted within the offer period of three days.
Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has commercially launched new value-added services for its fixed line customers using next-generation network (NGN). The operator’s all-India IP Centrex service allows users to create a closed user group amongst their friends and family, and enjoy unlimited talk time within the group by paying a nominal monthly charge. The members of the group may have a BSNL landline and/or a BSNL mobile connection. Similarly, the multimedia video conferencing service allows an NGN fixed line user to set up audio conferencing or videoconferencing with up to 29 more users, who may or may not have a BSNL connection. In addition, BSNL has introduced prepaid plans for fixed connections like those available for mobile connections. The users of prepaid fixed telephony will not be required to pay any rental and will be charged only for outgoing calls. BSNL has also launched a service called fixed mobile telephony, which allows customers travelling abroad to connect their landline connection with the mobile phone and make calls without attracting any ISD charges by installing an application on their mobile devices.
