We are not in favour of framing a spectrum return policy: DoT

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) is not in favour of framing a spectrum return policy for new telecom operators, say news reports.

Further, DoT reportedly feels that such a policy may favour incumbent players seeking cheaper spectrum and lower competition.

Meanwhile, DoT has asked the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) to frame an exit policy to enable the new operators to surrender their mobile permits.
