Warid Telecom is negotiating with several international telecom companies, including SingTel, Vodafone and Kuwait’s Mobile Telecommunications Company (MTC), to sell a minority stake. The deal is slated to be finalised by August 2007.
However, Warid Telecom is neither willing to offload a controlling stake nor give up its brand name. The company has garnered about 10 million customers since starting operations in 2005.
