VSNL has posted a 385 per cent increase in its net profit at Rs 3.99 billion for the fourth quarter ended March 31, 2005, compared to the Rs 820 million posted in the same period of the previous fiscal year. VSNL’s total income for the quarter under review rose to Rs 9.34 billion from Rs 8.13 billion during the corresponding period in the previous year. For the year ended March 31, 2005, VSNL has posted a 100 per cent increase in net profit to Rs 7.56 billion on a standalone basis, compared with Rs 3.7 billion for the year ended March 31, 2004. Total income for the financial year rose to Rs 34.1 billion from Rs 33.7 billion during the same period of the previous year. On a consolidated basis, VSNL has posted a net profit of Rs 7.08 billion for the year under review and registered a total income of Rs 34 billion. This is the first year that the company has provided consolidated results.
