Vodafone India plans to invest Rs 40 billion to Rs 60 billion annually to expand its operations in the country. Since its debut in the Indian telecom market in 2007, the service provider has invested Rs 550 billion.

According to Marten Pieters, managing director and chief executive officer, Vodafone India, besides investing Rs 550 billion over the last six years, the company has paid the government Rs 115 billion as licence fee for acquiring 3G spectrum.

Going forward, operator has earmarked significant investments to expand its existing network in the country. The operators? licences in the Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata circles are going to come up for renewal in November 2014. To continue its operations in the three circles, Vodafone India is looking forward to participate in spectrum auction to be held by the government in January 2014.

Currently, with a subscriber base of 154 million Vodafone India is the country?s second largest service provider.
