
Vodafone India has partnered with ICICI Bank to introduce the M-Pesa money transfer facility in Haryana.
The service will be available in 62 tehsils and 21 districts through 1,073 authorised agents as well as across 110 retail outlets run by the operator in Haryana.
Using the M-Pesa service, subscribers will be able to deposit and withdraw cash from designated outlets, transfer money to any mobile phone in the country, pay their utility bills, recharge their mobile phones and shop at select outlets.
Commenting on the launch of the service, Tejinder Khurana, business head, Haryana, Vodafone India, said, ?M-Pesa?, is a safe, secure and convenient service to transfer money and make payments beyond the reach of traditional banking channels. For households where the earning members migrate to larger cities for earning livelihood, ?M-Pesa? will be the best way to send money back home to their families.?
Apart from Haryana, the M-Pesa service is also available in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, West Bengal, Uttar Pradesh (East) Uttar Pradesh (West), Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Assam and the North East.
