Vodafone India has joined hands with ICICI Bank to launch the M-Pesa mobile money transfer and payment service in Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR).
This service will now be available through 1,400 authorised agents and across 130 Vodafone retail stores in Delhi and the NCR.
The M Pesa facility enables customers to avail of a host of financial services on their handsets. These include: depositing and withdrawing cash from designated outlets; transferring money to any mobile phone in India and paying mobile and utility bills, etc.
Apart from Delhi, the M-Pesa facility has been rolled out in Kolkata, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, and Rajasthan and will be made available across the country in a phased manner.
